Early on, I was called a intuitive painter and a visual story teller. I am interested in abstraction and fantasy. At the same time, I freely use conventional rendering in some of my work.
Over time, I have developed a number of branch styles, each with its own distinct personality and direction. The Com positional paintings have a formal geometric quality. The Improvisational paintings follow a jazz like approach.
On the one hand, I pursue these works for their formal and abstract qualities. On another level these paintings reference landscape, space, and atmospheric themes.
The Figurative branch style works are partly based on some early portrait drawings and oil paintings I undertook at the age of nineteen, faithfully rendering my images from high value range photographs.
