SHORT HISTORY
Gran first became interested in the visual arts during his last two years of high school. He secured drawing lessons with a private instructor and learned the technique of high value range charcoal drawing.
During his first years of college he discovered modern art. He visited art museums in New York City, and studied art history as part of his curriculum. Soon his interest changed from simply copying photographic images, using charcoal and oil paint, to work influenced by Twentieth Century modernists.
Over time, Gran has found the creative possibilities of abstract imagery to be truly liberating and exciting. At the same time he utilizes representational imagery and rendering in some of his work.
